I don´t know if Origin does that with all their games, but it looks like Playnite is going around the start-procedure in Origin and uses the executable "ts4.exe".The addition coincides with a new update for the game released this week that fixes bugs for a variety of expansions. EA says that the saves from the earlier Sims 3 will not carry over into The Sims 4.
